The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Takes Place Inside Hotel Oblivion

Netflix has confirmed that The Umbrella Academy season 3 will be taking place in Hotel Oblivion. The series, which is based on the graphic novels of the same name by Gabriel Bá and My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, premiered on Netflix in 2019. The series follows a group of former child heroes who reunite to save the world and stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min.

Season 2 ended two years ago, with the show’s long-awaited return being delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, it was finally confirmed that The Umbrella Academy will return for season 3 in 2022. Although the specific month and day are yet to be announced, fans can breathe easy knowing that the cliffhanger of the season, which featured ample time travel chaos, will be resolved within the next year.

The Hotel Oblivion is the location of the third limited series of the graphic novel, which is aptly titled The Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion. Created by Academy founder Sir Reginald Hargreeves, the Hotel Oblivion is a twisted space where he houses the worst villains the Academy has ever faced. They are served by faceless bellhops, and nothing but surrealist cartoons play on the televisions, while outside the windows is a strange dimension. Of course, in the comic, the inmates eventually break out and wreak havoc on the city, but the plot of The Umbrella Academy season 3 remains to be seen.

The Umbrella Academy season 3 is certain to feature some incredible imagery by bringing this surreal interdimensional space to life. This will also open up the series to featuring some extra-powerful villains who have been inmates of the Hotel, including Dr. Terminal, Perseus XI, The Murder Magician, and Obscura. Dr. Terminal has invented a device that allows him to eat matter to feed a disease that is devouring his nervous system, and The Murder Magician is a hypnotist with a penchant for sawing people in half. Given these creepy quirks, either would make a strong new villain to add to the wild and thrilling ride of the series.
